Learning in Lowton
From village roads to one of the North West’s busiest A-roads, Lowton has everything you need to learn.
The East Lancs Road runs right through Lowton. When you’re ready, it’s the perfect place to build confidence at higher speeds and practise joining and leaving faster traffic.
Roads around Lowton’s schools and village centres help you practise patience, pedestrian awareness and dealing with parked cars at busy times.
Larger junctions and traffic lights around Lane Head teach lane choice, timing and clear observation, key skills for any driving test.
The M6 at Haydock is a short drive west along the A580. Since 2018, learners can take motorway lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor in a dual-controlled car.
Driving test

Yes. Callum teaches across Lowton (WA3), including Lowton St Mary’s, Lowton Common and Lane Head, as well as nearby Leigh, Atherton, Hindley Green and Daisy Hill.
A 1.5 hour lesson is £63 and a 2 hour lesson is £84 (£42 an hour). A 10-hour block booking is £400, which works out at £40 an hour.
