Drive With Callum Limited

Privacy Policy – how I use your personal information

This policy explains what personal information Drive With Callum Limited collects when you enquire about, book or take driving lessons, or use this website; why I collect it; who I share it with; how long I keep it; and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Last updated 24 September 2026.

1. Who I am

Drive With Callum Limited (company number 16043516) is the data controller for your personal information. Registered office: 39 Trent Drive, Hindley Green, Wigan, WN2 4TT. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact Callum by phone or text on 07969 143 068, by email at hello@drivewithcallum.co.uk, or by post at the registered office.

2. The information I collect

Depending on how you deal with me, I may collect:

  • Contact and identity details: your name, phone number, email address, home or pick-up address and date of birth. For pupils under 18, a parent or guardian’s name and contact details.
  • Driving licence details: your provisional or full licence number and the categories you are entitled to drive, so I can check you are legally allowed to take lessons.
  • Lesson records: bookings, attendance, hours delivered, progress notes, feedback, mock-test results and driving test dates and outcomes.
  • Payment records: what you have paid, when and by which method. Card payments are processed by Total Drive’s payment provider; I never see or store your full card details.
  • Health information relevant to driving: eyesight, medical conditions and medication that could affect your ability to drive safely. See section 5.
  • Communications: calls, texts, emails, Facebook messages and enquiry-form submissions between us.
  • Website data: how you use this website, collected through analytics cookies (see section 8).
  • Photos, videos and reviews: only where you have given written consent (see section 7).

3. Where I get it from

Most of this information comes directly from you: when you send an enquiry, book lessons, pay, message me or talk to me in a lesson. Some comes from Total Drive, the pupil app I use to manage bookings, lesson records and payments. For pupils under 18 it may come from a parent or guardian.

4. Why I use it, and my lawful basis

  • To provide driving lessons – booking and delivering lessons, keeping the lesson and progress records the DVSA code of practice requires, taking payments and issuing receipts. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you.
  • To check you can legally drive and to keep you safe – checking your licence and eyesight and knowing about health issues that affect driving. Lawful basis: legal obligation, and my legitimate interest in road safety; health information is processed with your explicit consent (section 5).
  • To communicate with you – confirming lessons, sending reminders, giving feedback and answering questions. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • To keep accounting, insurance and legal records – including records of complaints. Lawful basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests.
  • To tell you about my services – only if you have agreed. You can opt out at any time. Lawful basis: consent.
  • To share your success – pass photos, reviews and testimonials on my website and social media. Lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To understand how my website is used – anonymous-style analytics. Lawful basis: consent and legitimate interests.

5. Health information

Health information is “special category” data. I only ask about eyesight, medical conditions and medication that could affect your driving, because I need to know you are safe and legally entitled to drive. I process it with your explicit consent, keep it to the minimum needed, and never share it except where the law requires (for example, if the DVLA or DVSA is entitled to it). You can withdraw consent at any time, but I may then be unable to continue lessons safely.

6. Who I share it with

  • Total Drive – the pupil app and payment platform I use to manage enquiries, bookings, lesson records, progress and payments. Total Drive processes your data on my behalf under its own terms and privacy policy. Its payment provider processes card payments.
  • My accountant and HMRC – for tax and accounting records.
  • My insurers – if there is an accident, incident or claim involving a lesson or test.
  • The DVSA, DVLA or police – where the law requires it, or to respond to a complaint or investigation.
  • Google – website analytics (section 8).
  • Meta (Facebook) – only if you contact me through Facebook, in which case Meta’s privacy policy also applies.
  • Website hosting and email providers – who store data on my behalf.

I never sell your personal information. Some providers may store data outside the UK; where they do, transfers are protected by UK-approved safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.

7. Photos, videos and reviews

I only publish your photo, video, name or review on my website or social media if you have given me explicit written consent, in line with the DVSA code of practice. I never share footage from in-car cameras without consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting me, and I will remove the content as soon as reasonably possible.

8. Cookies and analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are viewed and how people arrive). Google sets cookies to do this and processes the data under its own privacy policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on. The booking and payment forms on this site are provided by Total Drive and may set their own cookies.

9. How long I keep it

  • Pupil records (contact details, lesson, progress and payment records): up to 6 years after your last lesson, to meet accounting and legal requirements.
  • Health information: deleted within 12 months of your last lesson.
  • Enquiries that do not lead to lessons: up to 12 months.
  • Complaint records: 6 years.
  • Photos, videos and reviews: until you withdraw consent.
  • Website analytics: as set in Google Analytics, currently up to 14 months.

10. How I keep it safe

Your information is stored in password-protected systems (including Total Drive) and on secured devices. Only Callum, and the providers listed above where necessary, can access it. Paper records are kept securely and shredded when no longer needed.

11. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you;
  • ask me to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask me to delete your information, where there is no good reason for me to keep it;
  • ask me to restrict how I use it, or object to my using it;
  • receive the information you gave me in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where consent is my lawful basis.

To exercise any of these rights, contact Callum using the details in section 1. I will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, by phone on 0303 123 1113, or by post to Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

12. Pupils under 18

Many pupils start lessons at 17. If you are under 18, I may also hold contact details for a parent or guardian and may involve them in booking, payment and, where appropriate, progress updates. A parent or guardian can exercise the rights in section 11 on your behalf.

13. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
